WORTH IT as the anchor of the best-value half-day in Busan — not as a standalone ride

The Air Cruise crosses Songdo Bay — about 1.6 km of open water with the harbour and coast underneath — for ₩17,000 (~$12) round trip. Alone, it's a nice ride (4.4★ from 167 TripAdvisor reviews). What makes it a verdict-level yes is the cluster around it: a free 365 m skywalk, Amnam Park's clifftop paths, and the ₩1,000 (~$0.70) Yonggung Suspension Bridge — the best-value paid attraction in Busan. The whole half-day, timed below, lands under ₩25,000 (~$17.50) — less than one X the Sky gate ticket.

Value huntersCable car + bridge + skywalk + park for under ₩25,000 total — nothing east of here touches it

Old Busan's beach, quietly excellent

What it is

Songdo was Korea's first public beach (opened 1913), and after decades of decline the city rebuilt it into the west side's best casual half-day: the Busan Air Cruise cable car crossing the bay to Amnam Park's cliffs, a 365 m over-water skywalk at beach level, and a headland suspension bridge to a tiny island for exactly ₩1,000. None of it is world-famous, all of it works, and it sits 10 minutes from Jagalchi — which is what makes the west-side day plan click.

The cable-car decision inside the decision: standard cabin ₩17,000 (~$12) round trip, Crystal (glass-floor) ₩22,000 (~$15). The rule: the +₩5,000 Crystal is worth it on clear days only — the floor is the point, and haze kills it. One-way tickets (₩13,000/₩17,000) exist and make sense if you plan to walk back through Amnam Park anyway, which the plan below does not — the return ride at golden hour is part of the payoff.

The under-₩25,000 half-day, hour by hour

The plan
09:00

Songdo Beach + Cloud Trails Skywalk — ₩0

Start on the 365 m skywalk looping over the water off the beach — open from 06:00, free, and empty at this hour. Coffee from a beachfront café, ~₩5,000 (~$3.50).

10:00

Air Cruise across the bay — ₩17,000 RT (₩22,000 Crystal)

Ride the roughly 10-minute crossing to the Amnam side before the midday queues. Clear day? Pay the ₩5,000 Crystal upgrade for the glass floor. Hazy? Save it.

10:30

Amnam Park cliffs — ₩0

Boardwalks and forest paths along genuinely dramatic cliffs — the coastal scenery half of Busan's postcards without the crowds of any of them.

11:15

Songdo Yonggung Suspension Bridge — ₩1,000

A short, satisfyingly swaying crossing to a rocky islet. The best ₩1,000 (~$0.70) an attraction charges in this city — closed 1st and 3rd Mondays, so check your date.

12:15

Ride back at the view's best — included in your RT

Recross the bay — you now know which side of the cabin to stand on. Total so far: ₩23,000 (~$16) with Crystal, ₩18,000 (~$12.60) standard, coffee included.

12:45

Lunch: grilled clams on Songdo, or Jagalchi

Songdo's shoreline grills do clams and shellfish; or bus 10 minutes back to Jagalchi Market and do the buy-downstairs-eat-upstairs ritual with the ₩5,000 table charge priced in. Either way, Gamcheon is next door for the afternoon.

The tickets

Every price on this page was checked on 6 August 2026 against official or primary sources. Korean attraction prices move fast and sources disagree; where we couldn't verify a number, we say so instead of guessing.

Queues build late morning on weekends; the 10:00 slot in the plan above is deliberate. Online tickets via Klook often undercut the counter — compare before you queue.

Songdo questions, answered

FAQPage schema paired
Is the Songdo cable car worth it?

Yes — at ₩17,000 (~$12) round trip it's the best-priced big attraction in Busan, it rates 4.4★ on TripAdvisor, and it anchors a half-day (skywalk, cliffs, the ₩1,000 bridge) that totals under ₩25,000 (~$17.50). The east side has nothing at this value-per-won.

Is the Crystal cabin worth the extra ₩5,000?

On a clear day, yes — the glass floor over open water is the whole upgrade, and ₩22,000 (~$15) round trip is still cheap. On hazy or wet days the floor shows you grey, so save the ₩5,000 and put it toward the suspension bridge five times over.

How long does the Songdo cable car take?

About 10 minutes each way across roughly 1.6 km of bay. With the skywalk, Amnam Park's cliff paths and the suspension bridge, budget 3–4 hours for the full half-day — it's more coast walk than queue-and-ride.

What's on the other side of the cable car?

Amnam Park: clifftop boardwalks, forest paths, sea views — free — plus the Songdo Yonggung Suspension Bridge, ₩1,000 (~$0.70) to sway across to a tiny islet. Note the bridge closes the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month.

How do I get to Songdo Beach?

Line 1 to Jagalchi Station (자갈치역), Exit 2, then bus 6, 30 or 71 about 15 minutes to the beach; a taxi from Nampo runs ₩6,000–8,000 (~$4–6) and takes 10 minutes. That adjacency is the point — stack Songdo with Jagalchi and Gamcheon into one west-side day.

Songdo cable car or the Sky Capsule?

Different jobs, unequal value. The Sky Capsule is a ~₩40,000 (~$28) per-capsule photo ride above a walkable boardwalk; the Air Cruise is ₩17,000 for a genuine over-water crossing with a destination on the far side. If the budget picks one, this page's ride wins — the capsule's own verdict explains why.

What are the Songdo cable car's opening hours?

09:00–21:00 daily for the Air Cruise. The suspension bridge over at Amnam Park keeps shorter hours — 09:00–18:00 March–September, closing 17:00 October–February — and shuts entirely on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month, so do the ₩1,000 (~$0.70) bridge before a late-day ride, not after.

Is Songdo good for sunset?

It's one of the few west-facing spots in a city that mostly looks east — the sun goes down over the harbour on the cable car side. Ride in the last hour before dusk (cars run until 21:00), or skip the fare: the skywalk below is free until 23:00. A ₩30,000 (~$21) day pass exists if you want both a daylight and a dusk crossing.
